(via WIREDInsider) “Nike made its latest splash with the release of the Nike+FuelBand. Most definitely built to compete with the Fitbits and Jawbone Ups of the world, FuelBand is a wristband you wear around all day long that measures your everyday activity and turns it into NikeFuel. NikeWhat? I don’t know what that is either, but according to Nike it’s a metric they invented to track movement that goes beyond mere calorie and step-counting, using something else I’ve never heard of called “oxygen kinetics”.

To be honest, my first instinct is to pan this thing. I’ve got over 1,000 Nike+running miles logged, and now all these johnny-come-latelies are going to get points just for walking around the office? But I have to admit I’m intrigued by this “one metric for all” idea, and if it really does connect to Path, as is the rumor, that’s huge. It’s a nice-looking watch anyway.”
